SAXTONS RIVER GLS-VT SOLAR, LLC - B |  123.42 (kW DC)

Saxtons River GLS Community Solar Project is a ground-mounted installation located at 2 Corey Hill Road, set on a 21.92-acre parcel in Windham County, Vermont. Developed under a long-term lease, this clean energy site is purpose-built to deliver renewable power directly to the local grid through a 500 kW AC solar array.

Community Solar Project

Structured as a community solar project, the system is part of a Group Net Metering arrangement with Green Mountain Power, Vermont’s leading utility. This setup allows local households and small businesses — especially those unable to install their own rooftop systems — to benefit directly from solar energy through utility bill credits. This is especially impactful in Rockingham, where income levels fall below the state average, making energy savings particularly meaningful for low- to moderate-income (LMI) subscribers.

The project supports more than just energy affordability. It’s expected to stimulate the local economy, creating employment in construction, installation, and maintenance — key sectors that often offer wages above the regional average. Even at 500 kW, the system contributes to workforce development and supports the region’s growing clean energy industry.

From a policy standpoint, the project aligns with Vermont’s Renewable Energy Standard (RES), which requires utilities to source 100% of their electricity from renewable sources by 2030. Under Tier II of the RES, distributed generation projects like this one — under 5 MW — are especially encouraged, reinforcing the state’s vision for a decentralized, resilient clean energy future.
